Very smart model, will be very successful.

The US Government is cribbing it’s combat robot strategy from X-Men comics.

From the most recent batch of Wikileaks, we’ve learned that the US Government has been assembling a secret drone base in the Seychelles, an archipelago in the Indian Ocean. The Wall Street Journal writes:

The island nation of 85,000 people has hosted a small fleet of MQ-9 Reaper drones operated by the U.S. Navy and Air Force since September 2009. U.S. and Seychellois officials have previously acknowledged the drones’ presence but have said that their primary mission was to track pirates in regional waters. But classified U.S. diplomatic cables show that the unmanned aircraft have also conducted counterterrorism missions over Somalia, about 800 miles to the northwest.

The Seychelles is a nondescript, tiny island off the Eastern coast of Africa, north of Madagascar. Suspiciously, this is directly next to fictional island of Genosha, the island where mutant-hunting Sentinel robots are manufactured in the X-Men universe.

Coincidence? Or someone in the drone program is a big Chris Claremont nerd…

10 out of 10 geeks agree: the iPad is going change comics. PanelFly is already prepping their app (see above), and the industry is abuzz.
