I'm Drew Breunig and I obsess about technology, media, language, and culture. I live in New York, studied anthropology, and work in advertising technology.

These are reactions to things I feel are important.

Mars Needs Moms,” about a 9-year-old boy whose mother is abducted by Martians, followed quickly on the heels of “Gnomeo & Juliet” and “Rango.” “Hop” will arrive on April 1; “Rio” arrives two weeks later. Close behind are “Kung Fu Panda 2” and “Cars 2.

The NYTimes cites the saturated CG genre as potential cause of Mars Needs Moms’ magnificent flop.

I’m holding out hope that the deluge of CG films will lead to cheaper tools, so that in five years a team of 6 can set up in a garage and create something unique and exciting.
