… Apple …
Huge letdown.

Thank You

It literally pains me to agree with this.

Having lots of stuff isn’t the same as being better.  Should I go through all of the stuff my old Windows Mobile phone had that my iPhone doesn’t?  The keyboard didn’t make it better.  The 11 buttons didn’t make it better.  Nor did the USB port or the microSD slot or the physical manual focus or the LED flash.  Or the removable battery or the stylus.  That phone was a piece of shit! My iPhone is infinitely better.
I’m not convinced that the iPad is the greatest thing ever, but I’m quite convinced that, if it is, it’s largely due to simplicity and thoughtful design, not stuff.

I wasn’t going to say anything, but I agree 100% with Eric. The trap the technically inclined too often fall into is cherishing potential, not actual usage. Plus, not all features are created equal. Evaluating at a device purely for it’s specs ignores the actual interaction between the product and its users.
I remember the very same trolls lambasting the Wii because the inside of the console was essentially a Gamecube. So the Wii was tossed aside by the hardcore, who instead frothed over multi-cores and 1080p output. Meanwhile: Nintendo practically printed money with Wii sales, while the “next gen” consoles languished.
Come to think of it, the Wii also had an unfortunate name.
The iPad is clearly an early adopter device. It’s future iterations will better resonate with the mass market.
But while I’m not sure that the iPad will be a hit, I’m positive that it will outsell whatever Eee Pad Acer churns out. Which surely will have all the features listed above.
