An informed industry insider has recently revealed that for smartphone vendors purchasing components for 1 mln domestically manufactured smartphones, the phones can be produced for as low as RMB 389.94 each. The three main component parts of smartphones, namely the printed circuit board, display screen, and camera can be priced as low as RMB 105.4, RMB 52.8, and RMB 7.66 respectively, for a total cost of RMB 165.86. In addition, brand marketing, carriers, and distributors also make up for a considerable portion of the retail price.
