I'm Drew Breunig and I obsess about technology, media, language, and culture. I live in New York, studied anthropology, and work in advertising technology.

These are reactions to things I feel are important.

On the Nook Color

Future case study for aspiring MBA’s:

  • If you’re launching a product that competes with two product categories, each dominated by separate companies with subsidized hardware and huge marketing budgets, refer to your product as a ‘hybrid’ rather than a ‘two-front war.’
  • Distract people from your incredibly slow, painful user experience by making it ‘customizable’ and in color.
  • Push out shoddy products so you can re-categorize the company you’re trying to sell as a technology company, not a book store.
  • Give Engadget an exclusive and they’ll gush over it, anyway.

The Nook Color is like the musical in The Producers, except it’s not going to be an accidental hit.
