I love reading the papers on my Kindle - but Frontpages.Tumblr in my dashboard helps fill the visceral void

What an awesome idea! I’ve never seen anything like this anywhere else. Sites like this should smooth our transition into a generation without the news being printed on physical media.

Computers use the metaphor of folders and files even most most users probably have no physical filing system. I think I’d prefer to be greeted by a virtual front page, when I landing on a news source’s homepage, to the custom web version most employ. It would at least be a neat option.

It’s about CONTEXT!

In all the death-of-newspaper rhetoric out there, no one seems to be discussing the stimulus readers experience when normally unrelated stories are jumbled together on a single front page. Taking this single page in with our eyes and minds forces us to make sense of the big picture, or at least attempt to organize the disorder.

With hyperlink navigation, Google and the Kindle we lose the context to a degree. And it is this curation that we stand to lose if we don’t transition from print to digital in a measured manner.
